Westward Expansion- California Gold Rush

I went west for the California Gold Rush because, I thought that I could possibly get rich and maybe start a business or company and do some other things with the gold I had found. Gold was found in 1848 by James Wilson Marshall at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma, California. When people found out, everyone rushed to California through wagon trains, which eventually California became a boomtown. Before the Gold Rush happened a town where gold was found used to be a ghost town. A little while after the Gold Rush, there soon was the very first Transcontinental Railroad in 1869 in California, which was a faster way to get to places than just using wagon trains.
